Dr. Straight holds a Juris Doctor (University of Florida), a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice (Nova Southeastern University), a Master's Degree in Sociology (University of South Florida), and a Bachelor's Degree is Spanish with a minor in Sociology (Radford University). He has 12 years of law practice experience to include Prosecution (Assistant State Attorney), Criminal Defense (limited), and Contracts.
Dr. Straight has 13 years teaching experience online (and on-ground) and has taught 93 different courses spanning six (6) academic disciplines; he has also designed more than 30 Online courses. He is currently the Director of Online Education, and Dean of Criminal Justice & Paralegal Studies, at National American University.
Dr. Straight was honorably discharged, as a disabled veteran, from the United States Army in 2005 having served as a Military Intelligence Officer.
