The NDTC is located at Wayne State University (Detroit) to facilitate innovation, research, and development of best practices in law enforcement de-escalation training. The NDTC is housed at the university's police department and is structured to serve as the headquarters for a series of Regional Training Centers in other states such as Nevada, Texas, North Carolina, Kansas, Connecticut, and Florida (agreements formalized with each).
The concept of regionalization is in keeping with standardization and proliferation of best training practices, reduction of training costs, and closer proximity to training centers. We anticipate approximately seven (10) primary Regional Training Centers located in populated metropolises spanning the United States.
The network of Regional Training Centers will collaboratively engage in innovation and development of effective de-escalation practices. Regional Training Centers are highly encouraged to anchor, with a local university, to expand academic research opportunities, internships, and externships (both on-ground and virtual).
